sound analysis task

 1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film:

  • Diegetic and non-diegetic sound
  • Parallel and contrapuntal sound
  • Sound bridges
Remember to discuss/analyse all the different types of sound present in the clip:
  • Music
  • Dialogue
  • Voiceover
  • Sound effects
You also need to highlight or put in bold any use of media language.




diegetic 
sound that the characters can hear for example the dialogue between NEO and Trinity also the music in the background is an example of diegetic sound 
non diegetic 
when the alarm clock goes off in scene one both protagonists  are unable to hear the sound 
sound bridge 
 we first hear the alarm clock go off in scene 1 and it joins the two scenes together as in reality it was the start of scene two
parallel 
they seem to be in a club or party so the music they were playing was typical to the setting
contrapuntal 
the conversation between neo and trinity was very quiet and spoke in whispers which is opposite to what we would expect in that venue as they would be typically be shouting to hear eachother

sound feedback

  1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. the images were very good , The timing was very good , Good choice of music to accurately portray parallel and contrapuntal sound 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback. the music clearly showed parallel and contrapuntal sounds , the photos were wide ranged but were still relevant  3) Now  reflect  on your work and write your own evaluation of your video.
